A Live Photo is a still image plus a short MOV video (with audio). A MOV on its own is enough for GIF and still output.
GIFs are deliberately limited to the first 6 seconds. They are larger and lower quality than video, and they never keep audio.

What this keeps — and what it drops
A Live Photo normally contains a still, a few seconds of video and audio. GIF keeps motion but drops audio, uses fewer colours and is often much bigger than you expect. Extract still saves one frame; if you selected its matching JPG, it can save that original instead. MP4 is offered only where this browser can make one locally. It records playback once, so it is not a lossless MOV-to-MP4 remux.
We do not pretend a file rename is a conversion. If your browser cannot decode the MOV or cannot record MP4, the tool says so and leaves the original untouched.
Live Photos can reveal more than one moment
They can carry a location in metadata and a few seconds before and after the picture. The metadata switch affects stills made here; it cannot erase location from the original MOV. Check what a photo contains before you share it with the photo metadata viewer, or make a cleaned sharing copy with the photo cleaner.

Why is MP4 experimental?
A browser must decode the MOV and record a new MP4. That depends on your browser and the video codec, so this tool never presents it as a lossless conversion.
