The basics
What is Sealby?
Sealby is a private, deniable encrypted vault for iPhone and iPad. It keeps photos, videos, documents and notes behind a PIN, pattern or passphrase, encrypted on your device with AES-256. There is no account and no server. A different PIN opens a different vault, and no list or count of vaults is stored anywhere.
Which devices does Sealby support?
Sealby runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. Premium adds encrypted iCloud backup, and you choose per vault which ones sync between your devices.
Does Sealby work on iPad?
Yes. Sealby is a native iPad app with the same hidden vaults and the same AES-256 encryption on your device. With Premium, vaults sync between your iPhone and iPad through iCloud as encrypted data no one can read.
Can I unlock with a pattern?
Yes. Each vault opens with whatever you set for it: a PIN, a pattern or a passphrase. Deniability works the same with all three, because any input opens its own vault. For the strongest protection, a long passphrase is still the best choice.
Do I need an account or sign-up?
No. Sealby has no accounts at all. There is nothing to register, verify or breach. You create a vault, choose a PIN, and you’re done.
How do I get my data out of Sealby?
Open a vault and export whenever you like, including as an encrypted copy for moving or archiving. You are never locked out of your own data. It stays sealed until you decide otherwise.
Security & privacy
Can Sealby or Apple read my data?
No. Your data is encrypted on your device, and only encrypted data is ever stored or synced. There is no account, no server-held key and no backdoor. There is nothing readable for anyone to access or be forced to hand over.
What encryption does Sealby use?
Files and notes are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, each with its own key. The keys are protected by the Secure Enclave in your device and unlocked by your PIN, pattern or passphrase.
What if I lose my recovery phrase?
Then that vault depends on this phone and its PIN, pattern or passphrase alone. If you lose those too, or lose the phone, no one can recover the vault. There is no master key and no backdoor. That is the trade-off that makes Sealby readable by no one but you, so store your recovery phrase carefully.
Do you track me on this website?
No. This site uses no trackers, no advertising pixels and no cookies. Privacy is the product, so the website matches.
Hidden vaults & deniability
What is a deniable (hidden) vault?
A separate vault that opens only with its own PIN. Vaults are stored as identical encrypted blocks, and no list of them is kept, so nothing records how many vaults you have or that a hidden one exists at all.
Can someone tell how many vaults I have?
No. Sealby keeps no list or count of vaults anywhere, and vaults you haven’t opened are stored as identical encrypted blocks.
What is a duress PIN?
An optional PIN, available with Premium, that opens a harmless decoy vault and removes your other vaults from this device, so a forced unlock reveals nothing that matters. With Encrypted Backup on, you can restore those vaults later with their recovery phrases. You choose whether to set one.
Pricing
How much is Premium?
Premium is a monthly or yearly plan (each with a 7-day free trial), or a one-time lifetime purchase. Current prices are shown in the App Store.
Is the free tier limited in time?
No. Free stays free: unlimited vaults and every file type on your iPhone or iPad, with up to 100 files per vault. Premium removes the cap.
Do I need an account to pay?
No account with us. Purchases go through your Apple ID and are verified on your device.
