If you lost your phone right now

Not stolen, not hacked, just gone. For most people the real damage is not the hardware. It is the accounts whose second factor and recovery codes lived only on that phone. In three minutes and six categories you will know which ones would lock you out, and the one fix each needs.

Main email

Email is the reset hub. Nearly every other account recovers through it.

Where does the second factor for this live?

And where do its recovery codes / backup phrase live?

How the ranking works

Each answer pair adds fixed lock-out points. A second factor that lives only on the lost phone counts more than a texted code. Codes lost with the phone count most, and count half when the second factor itself survives the loss, because you can still sign in. The points are then multiplied by how much else depends on the category: email, your password manager and the authenticator itself carry extra weight. A seed phrase that would be lost with the phone, with no other way into the wallet, is scored as permanent loss rather than lock-out. The weights live in this page’s source. Your answers never leave the browser, and “Start over” clears what’s saved.

Where should the codes live?

Recovery codes are the classic “rarely needed, catastrophic to lose” item. They shouldn’t sit in your camera roll, and they shouldn’t depend on your daily phone to exist. Paper works. So does an encrypted vault that’s backed up off the device, which is exactly what Sealby is for.

The fix for the worst items is boring: copies, kept safely.

Recovery codes, emergency kits, seed phrases: Sealby keeps them encrypted on your device and backed up as encrypted data no one can read. With Encrypted Backup on and your recovery phrase on paper, a lost phone never means losing the way back in.
