This format can’t be stripped in place
HEIC and TIFF weave metadata into the file structure, so a byte-safe strip isn’t possible. The photo cleaner’s export re-encodes through a canvas instead. Metadata is dropped by design, at the cost of recompressing the image.

This removes metadata: EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments, embedded timestamps and GPS. It does not touch the pixels. Faces, screens, license plates and reflections stay exactly as photographed. For those, use the photo cleaner’s boxes.
All-or-nothing is deliberate. Keeping “just the harmless fields” sounds nice, but partial metadata can still be linked back to you: a timezone here, a lens serial there. The clean copy carries none.
Color is preserved. ICC profiles decide how the image renders, so they are kept. They are not personal data in themselves, though a truly custom profile could in principle be distinctive.

The originals in your camera roll keep their metadata, and any app with photo access can read them. Sealby moves them into an encrypted vault only you can open.
