How PDF compression works
This tool re-renders every page as a JPEG image inside a new PDF. It can reduce scanned and image-heavy files substantially, but it flattens selectable text, links and form fields. It is not the right tool for a text document you need to edit.
Choose a setting
Start with 1600 px and balanced quality. Choose 1200 px for a smaller file you only need to read on screen, or 2200 px when small text matters. The result shows the original and new file sizes, so you can decide whether the trade-off is worthwhile.
Limits and privacy
Very large PDFs can exceed browser memory. Password-protected PDFs are not opened or bypassed. This tool does not perform OCR. For protected documents, use password protect a PDF.
