Convert HEIC to WebP
Turn iPhone HEIC photos into WebP — usually the smallest file of any common format at the same visible quality, which makes it ideal for putting photos on a website. It’s all done in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Your images never leave this device, and every file is built in your browser.

Why convert HEIC to WebP?
WebP exists to make images on the web smaller. If you’re publishing iPhone photos to a site, a blog or a store listing, HEIC→WebP typically beats JPG on size at the same quality, which means faster pages.
The trade-off is reach: a handful of older apps, email clients and legacy software still render WebP poorly. If you’re sending the file to a person rather than a web server, JPG is the safer choice.
What you gain
- Smallest file of the common formats at a given quality
- Great for websites — faster loads, less bandwidth
- Supports transparency and adjustable quality
What you lose or trade
- Compatibility gaps in some older apps, email clients and software
- Lossy, like JPG — not for archival/lossless needs
The honest recommendation
WebP is the smallest for the web, but if you’re sending this to someone rather than publishing it, HEIC→JPG is the safer bet for compatibility.
Measure it on your own image with the format advisor →HEIC to WebP: questions
Is WebP smaller than JPG?
Usually yes — at the same visible quality WebP is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG, which is why it’s popular for websites. The exact saving depends on the photo; our format advisor measures it on your actual image.
Why doesn’t my WebP open somewhere?
A few older apps and email clients never added WebP support. Every modern browser handles it, but if a recipient’s software doesn’t, convert to JPG or PNG instead.
Does this include lossless WebP?
No — a browser can only produce lossy WebP from a canvas, so that’s what this tool makes. For a lossless result from an iPhone photo, use HEIC→PNG.
