Notes on this comparison
We compare published features, not independently tested security. A red cross earns no credit: the feature is unsupported, has a drawback, or is labelled “Not advertised” because we found no claim in the checked sources. “Not advertised” does not prove a feature is absent. An amber dash means documented partial support. A grey question mark is reserved for checks we could not assess and is excluded from the ranking score.
- 1.Sealby · Encryption: AES-256-GCM encrypts each file on your device.
- 2.Secret Photo Album · Encryption: The developer explicitly advertises encrypted storage on its product page and App Store listing. The algorithm and key management are not detailed; this credits the published claim, not independently verified security.
- 3.Sealby · No account: No Sealby account; optional iCloud features use your Apple Account.
- 4.Secret Photo Album · No account: Cloud access requires email registration. Account-free local use is not explicitly advertised in the checked sources; this does not establish that local use requires an account.
- 5.Sealby · No developer storage server: No Sealby content servers; optional encrypted backup in your own iCloud.
- 6.Secret Photo Album · No developer storage server: Local storage is available; paid cloud content may use provider-managed AWS.
- 7.Sealby · Multiple separate vaults: Unlimited free vaults, each with its own code and recovery phrase.
- 8.Secret Photo Album · Multiple separate vaults: Separate PINs for selected albums are advertised. Partial credit for separately locked albums; the sources do not explain whether the decoy opens an independent collection.
- 9.Sealby · Decoy vault: A separate free vault can be a decoy; duress deletion requires Premium.
- 10.Secret Photo Album · Decoy vault: Decoy PIN documented; the public listing does not specify its tier.
- 11.Sealby · Photos, videos, files & folders: Photos, videos, any file type, rich-text notes and folders.
- 12.Secret Photo Album · Photos, videos, files & folders: Photos, videos and albums are advertised. General-document support is not advertised in the checked sources; partial credit for the documented media support.
- 13.Sealby · Create & edit notes: Write rich-text notes and import plaintext files. Search inside supported documents.
- 14.Secret Photo Album · Create & edit notes: The developer describes photos and videos. A written-note editor is not advertised on its product page or current App Store listing.
- 15.Sealby · No ads: No ads in either the free or Premium version.
- 16.Secret Photo Album · No ads: The app-specific privacy policy describes serving advertising and lists ad providers. The current free-versus-paid placement is not established. A browser ad blocker is not an app-wide no-ads promise.

How does Secret Photo Album compare with Sealby?
Secret Photo Album offers locked media and a paid provider cloud. Sealby needs no account, collects no app data and keeps optional encrypted backups in your own iCloud.
What to keep in mind
- Premium cloud access requires email registration. Its privacy policy distinguishes local or user-iCloud storage from paid provider hosting.
- The listing does not establish which tier includes the decoy PIN.
What Secret Photo Album is built for
- Decoy PIN, break-in photos and lockout after wrong PINs
- A cloud tier for multi-device access
What to consider
- Its App Store privacy label (as listed 4 October 2026) declares data used to track you
- Cloud sync is Premium and requires registering an email
- No documented hidden vaults that leave no stored list or count or duress PIN
The honest verdict
Choose Sealby for private photos, files and notes without a provider account. Compare the cloud and subscription model if you prefer Secret Photo Album.

Common questions
Does Sealby need an account for backup?
No Sealby account is needed. Premium backup uses your Apple account and stores encrypted blocks in your own iCloud. Every user can also save an encrypted export for free, without a cloud account.
Can I move my photos to Sealby?
Yes. Export them to your photo library or Files, then add them to a Sealby vault with the photo picker or the share sheet. Sealby encrypts them on import, and you can then delete the readable copies.
