Straight into the vault. Never the camera roll.

Most private photos start in the camera roll, where they sync, show up in Memories and wait to be moved. Sealby’s in-vault camera skips all of that: the photo goes straight into the vault, encrypted.

How do I take a photo that does not save to my camera roll?

Use a camera inside a private vault app. In Sealby, open a vault, tap add and take a secure photo. The picture is encrypted straight into that vault; it is never written to the camera roll, never offered to iCloud Photos, and is saved without location data.

At a glance

  • Photos go straight into the open vault
  • Never in the camera roll, Recently Deleted or iCloud Photos
  • Saved without location data
  • Encrypted the moment you take the shot

Three taps.

  1. 1

    Open the vault

Unlock the vault the photo belongs in.

  2. 2

Tap add and choose the secure photo

The iPhone camera opens inside Sealby. iOS asks for camera access the first time.

  3. 3

    Take the shot

The photo is encrypted into the vault. There is nothing to delete from the camera roll afterwards.

Why skipping the camera roll matters

A photo taken with the normal Camera app lands in Photos, may upload to iCloud Photos, appears in widgets and Memories, and lingers in Recently Deleted after you move it. Importing it into a vault later leaves all of that behind unless you clean up by hand.

A photo taken inside Sealby never enters that path.

No location in the file

The photo is saved as a fresh JPEG without the location and camera metadata a normal photo carries. If the file ever leaves the vault, it does not reveal where it was taken.

Current limits

The in-vault camera takes photos; record videos with the Camera app and import them. It uses the standard iOS camera interface, so features like Live Photos and RAW are not available. Free vaults hold up to 20 items each, including up to 5 videos.

Common questions

Does the secure camera need Premium?

No. It is available in every vault on every tier.

Can I record video with it?

Not yet. Record with the Camera app, import the video into a vault, then delete the original from Photos and Recently Deleted.

Does Sealby get access to my photo library?

Not for the camera, and not for importing either: the Photos picker shows Sealby only the items you choose.
