Notes on this comparison

We compare published features, not independently tested security. A red cross earns no credit: the feature is unsupported, has a drawback, or is labelled “Not advertised” because we found no claim in the checked sources. “Not advertised” does not prove a feature is absent. An amber dash means documented partial support. A grey question mark is reserved for checks we could not assess and is excluded from the ranking score.

Is MEGA a good place for private photos?

Sealby keeps sensitive photos, files and notes behind separate codes. MEGA focuses on account-based encrypted cloud storage, sharing and access across platforms.

What MEGA is built for

  • End-to-end-encrypted storage with free and paid plans
  • Apps on every platform plus the web; sharing links, chat and meetings
  • Source code published for review

What to consider

  • Requires an account; your encrypted files live on MEGA’s servers
  • Files can be hidden from view and the app locked with a passcode, but there are no separate hidden vaults, decoys or duress PIN

The honest verdict

Choose Sealby for personal vaults with no account. Choose MEGA when storage capacity, links and broad platform access are your main priorities.

Common questions

Does Sealby store anything on a server?

Sealby runs no servers for your content. If you turn on Premium backup, your iCloud stores fixed-size encrypted blocks that iCloud cannot read. No Sealby account is needed, but the backup remains linked to your Apple account.

Can I use both?

Yes. Many people keep large shared storage in a cloud drive like MEGA and their most private photos, files and notes in a Sealby vault on the phone.

Your vault is waiting.

Download Sealby and protect what matters. Setup takes under a minute, and there’s no account to create.
